When it's time to go on vacation, one of the hardest tasks to complete is deciding what you'll do. While there are classic options to turn to, you may want to be more adventurous this time. If this is the case, here are six uniquely adventurous activities to try during vacation.

1. Swimming With Marine Life

If you're a lover of swimming and wildlife, this activity could be perfect for you. Swimming with marine life allows you to freely interact with some gorgeous creatures. It can also be tailored to your abilities and mood. For instance, a more daring individual can try swimming with sharks. If you want a more light-hearted experience, try swimming with dolphins. For safety's sake, avoid touching the animals and watch out for body language. Several vacations, such as weekend cruises, provide this opportunity, so keep a lookout for it.

2. Cliff Diving

Cliff diving can be highly enjoyable for experienced swimmers. Basically, it involves diving into water from a high cliff. It can be extremely dangerous, so it's essential that you take the right precautions beforehand. Make sure there aren't any rocks where you're diving and that the drop isn't too high. You may want to have an expert with you just in case. Despite the potential danger, this activity can be truly exhilarating, not to mention that popular cliff diving spots tend to be gorgeous.

3. Sand Surfing

If you enjoy snowboarding or surfing but want to try something new, sand surfing is a great option. Essentially, it involves riding down a sand dune on a board. Generally, both of your feet will be strapped to the board. If you want an experience that's more similar to sledding, you can try sitting or lying down. There are many places to go sand surfing in the U.S., but the sport is pretty popular in countries with deserts. Before starting, be sure that you've waxed your board and have a professional nearby.

4. Ziplining

Ziplining is usually a great experience for anyone that wants the sensation of flying and freefall. It involves racing down a cable line that you're connected to. If you're unsure about it, you can try a moderate experience before attempting the more daring lines. Be sure to wear breathable clothes that will be comfortable in a harness. Most importantly, do your research and remember to follow the rules. While zip lines are relatively safe, you may get injured if you don't follow the guidelines.

5. Volcano Boarding

Similar to sand surfing, volcano boarding is essentially snowboarding on a volcano. However, there's the added element of performing the sport on potentially dangerous terrain. In fact, one of the most popular volcano boarding sites is on a fairly active volcano. Despite this, the sport is pretty popular. It can be done on volcanoes with enough ash to permit sliding. You're generally required to wear protective gear, such as goggles and jumpsuits. If this is something you're interested in, try not to visit a volcano that's due to erupt soon.

6. Paragliding

If you want to try an adventurous activity without getting too intense, paragliding may be the thing to do. Unlike ziplining, paragliding allows you to truly experience flying without the sensation of freefall. You're strapped to a harness that's attached to a free-flying aircraft. Once in the air, you can control the aircraft and glide wherever you want to. If this sounds interesting but a little too unsafe, you can also try parasailing. Parasailing lets you experience flight while being attached to a vehicle, thus lessening the potential fear factor.

Exploring more adventurous activities can be exhilarating, especially if this is new to you. However, you shouldn't let your excitement cloud your judgment. It's essential that you make sound decisions about your health and capabilities. Do extensive research beforehand. If you stay thorough and safe, your activity is likely to be a positive experience you'll never forget.
